vh1 Storytellers

so ive deciding to give a rundown of pretty much what went down tonight at sony studios in culver city for kanye west's edition of vh1 storytellers.

okay so i get there just in time theres two seperate lines, one for contest winners
and the other for people that are pretty much pocket filled if you know what i mean.

and so they take us to an empty building in our separate lines and the start time was set for 5 but they had us waiting in that building for a good hour.

the moderators are giving updates the whole time saying its gonna be starting soon but it was B.S , so the wait goes on until they finally start letting people in

theres no more than 100 of us attending the taping by the way.

so they let the gorgeous people get seated first and then let all us ordinaries go in.

as i start to walk into the studio the floor beneath me is glowing blue and there's cameras all over. i look towards the stage and the setup is ridiculous.

theres a monitor on the floor which is similar to the glow in the dark stage where kanye performs and another monitor directly above it.

behind that are all the instruments for the band a huge white screen and a thin monitor that goes across the entire stage for visuals.

so we get seated and run some audience drills for footage they need of when they cut to the audience. they let us know that they have cams all over that are gonna be taping our reactions and what not.

so its another like hour wait while they play songs by M.I.A mr hudson, ne-yo and so on.

so they call in for the band to hit the stage and theyre suited up in their usual power ranger attire with the welding masks on.

about 10 minutes later the lights cut out. and i see a shadowy figure walking down the middle of the aisle with a ball of hair on the back of his head and a bowtie on his neck.

the shadowy figure climbs onto the stage and the first words everyone in the studio hears is "i've got the right, to put up a fight but not quite" a dim light and violins are accompanying kanye as he opens his set with see you in my nightmare

once he gets to the chorus a white light flashes behind him and the drums kick in rocking the whole room.

*just to give you an idea of how close i was to kanye , i was at the freethrow line and he was at the basket no homo

he was wearing a light grey suit white watch pink dress shirt black bowtie and some killer shades

he continues on with the song and he murders it.

once he wraps up with see you in my nightmare i start to hear unexpected sounds. i look towards the violins swiping away with their bows
and kanye starts to say into his mic "bout the baddest girl i ever seen, straight up out a movie scene" kanyes second song was my favorite track off 808s & heartbreak robocop!

all the "okay okay okays!" as kanyes singing this beast of a track hes chuckling the whole way through

he goes to the chorus then bridges into the second verse and his next chorus the drums start to tear things up and on the monitor behind kanye lots of moving squares appear

he goes on to talk about him being a big tenacious d fan and how robocop was his jack black moment with his line" ha ha that was a good one, you're first good one in a while"

and he says that one line that they cut out from that tidbit in the song was "we go to the movies, and we laugh at different jokes"

so this being a taping for a show and all.

he didnt like how the songs came out so he start over from the top!
with see you in my nightmare then onto robocop

this was followed up by another one of the hits off 808s paranoid

so from there on i dont remember the order of his songs but he did touch on some major topics

some of the things he talked about
michael phelps is human and he makes mistakes
he said o.j simpson is AMAZING, that one i was a bit thrown off by
he said for people to leave chris brown alone
that hes young and dont young people make mistakes?
he brought up his swagger like us performance and lil waynes scarf
he claims that kanye west is like a brand and when u see him at the grammys thats like kanye west sport and when hes on tour its like kanye west black label

hes a huge radio head fan and he got to meet the lead singer of radio head backstage at the grammys
and kanye went up to him praising him and what not, and tom walked away from ye'
and kanye said "so since he did that, during his performance i sat the fuck down"

he performed go hard which was ridiculous,
it started off on keys then went to guitar on chorus

lets see flashing lights was pretty good too
homecoming they add some effects on chris martins voice
heartless he went on to rant about 50 cent and i dont really remember how it was he said it but he was laying down freestyling to heartless and he said" look at this 50 im wearing a pink shirt laying down does this look gay?"

good life is always one of the greatest songs ever
he did that one on his first try
every other song took at least 3 tries and in between songs he would pull of his shades wipe his face and take big gulps of tea

he performed stronger about 5 times
they band played it differently than they have the past 2 years so that was pretty refreshing

he performed amazing off of 808s and thats when he went on to say " michael jackson! amazing, michael phelps! amazing, oj simpson! amazing"

he also addressed the fact that there isnt a 3rd single out for 808s and heartbreak

and he said " the only reason we dont have a 3rd single out, is because we're having a hard time deciding which one we want to put out. this one is personally my favorite"

he went onto perform say you will with a red lifeline flashing behind him

it was incredible.

he finished the set off with love lockdown during which he kept repeating " how many people in the house are in love? if you are please please please keep your love lockdown! whats the point of having the number one song if i have no one to celebrate with"

some more of his quotes
"i kinda had the feeling something bad was coming in the future after i did goodlife. dr jan adams is putting out a book, what the media doesnt want you to know, im sure my momma wouldnt want me to go to jail for killing a motherfucka"

and one of the things that kanye said that really stuck to me was during his explanation of heartless he said
"i always have to win, which is why i lost"

inter prate that i think its pretty deep.

he also talked about how he needs inspiration
"i dont want a good girl, i want a girl whos got some bad in her too. you're all entertained by my pain."

"i wish i could watch myself perform, thats the one thing that you guys will always have that i dont, is the chance to see me perform."

"when did i become this bad guy? so what i acted like a bitch and some award shows. its an award show."

"before i started rapping i wanted to be in the nba. but my claps we're different during the layup drills. i feel like im the kobe bryant of hip hop. cuz on any given night i can drop 61 on your ass."

and the one thing that really got me was when a girl in the audience yelled "happy valentines day!"

and kanyes response was "what are u on new york time? its valentines already? im on london time"

he went on to talk about M.I.A's baby and how its the most beautiful baby hes ever seen and that itll have swag in the future too.

overall kanye was really really really cool
he was really geeky too
he would make weird noises whenever he'd start a song over after messing up

once his set was done he had said before that he wanted to do see you in my nightmare and robocop over again because he was really never starting the show

so he did it again and it was just as good as before

getting to hear robocop live for the first time before he goes on tour was priceless

he said himself that it was the first time he was performing a lot of these songs
which is why he messed up so much

after he was done people kept asking for another so he got back on stage and performed streetlights

a couple people asked him some questions then mr west made his exit

hes not the asshole that the media makes him out to be at all. the crowd wasnt even that live and he was still cool with everything

i can definitely say that was an incredible experience.

just being able to get a better understanding of a misunderstood artist like kanye is unforgettable. there was nobody interrupting kanye or telling him what to say.

it was pretty much just him and us. before he left one of the last things he said was "thank you guys for helping me out and being my shrink tonight, this stage was my couch "

oh, and we got out like at 10 45

he performed for more than 3 hours.

well all thats left to say is,

his summer tour is gonna be ridiculous.
